Jaipur’s Gandhinagar railway station to be fully operated by women
We could well talk about women empowerment. India will indeed have its second railway station which will be fully handled by women – the first being Matunga in Mumbai city. From the ticket collector to the station superintendent, from the enquiry counter to the station master and even pointsman – it’s an all-women show all the way at Jaipur’s Gandhinagar train station.
Reports claimed that over 40 women have been employed to undertake the whole activities of the railway station which is situated on the Jaipur-Delhi rail route. Over 50 trains goes through this station on a regular basis and It is also said that the station becomes the hub of 7,000 passengers per day.
For better convenience of the women staff as in regards of their security as well, CCTV cameras have been installed and sanitary napkin vending machines have been set up.
An initiative which is being welcomed by all and which will brings positive change in the society according to Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
