Aadhaar application : The Supreme Court has extended the deadline to 31 March

The Aadhaar is a 12 digit unique identification number which is meant to contain all documentary evidence and biometric data on one single card. While it can be issued to all individuals residing in India, it can’t however be used as a proof of citizenship but only of identity. The Aadhaar was initially free and not mandatory. It was an opportunity for all residents who wanted to ease their everyday life, whenever they had administrative procedures.

However, the Aadhaar is now raising concerns since the government is trying to make mandatory the linking of Aadhaar with bank accounts and phones. A case had been brought to the Supreme Court to decide whether the Aadhaar Act is illegal and if it transgresses fundamental rights. For instance the right to privacy is a basic right. According to the panel of Constitutional Judges, the government cannot insist on making the Aadhaar mandatory. Even if the Aadhaar is considered as the largest biometric ID system, its security parameters are however still to be reinforced.

According to experts, the Aadhaar card is sensitive to falsification or duplication. Therefore, it is no surprise that Indian residents might feel their very fundamental and constitutional rights are at risk under the Aadhaar Act. The audience has been reported and the deadline for applying for the Aadhaar card has been extended to the 31 March.

The marriage ceremony took place on Friday 22nd June, in the city of Chattarpur in Madhya Pradesh. The objective is to appease the rain god so that He puts an end to the drought that affects the Bundelkhand region.

Incidentally, numerous areas of Uttar Pradesh are also experiencing a strong heat wave and limited rainfall. Hence, in the city of Varanasi, a similar matrimony was also held, but instead of real frogs, plastic frogs were used. The bride and the groom, were placed on plates decorated with garlands as a priest chanted Sanskrit verses and performed a special prayer to please the god of rain.

In India, the bridal union of frogs is not uncommon. The pilot decided to force the passengers to leave the plane, who refused to do so due to the heavy rain that was falling at that time.

Passengers of the AirAsia airline travelling from Calcutta to Bagdogra (India) on Wednesday went through an agonizing situation while waiting for their plane to take off. They got on the aircraft with half an hour delay, and once on board, they waited for an hour and a half more, when the pilot ordered them to leave the plane without explaining the reasons. However, people refused to leave the aircraft due to the heavy rain that was falling on the airport at the time, local media reported.

Faced with this situation, the pilot decided to force them out by putting the air conditioning fan at full capacity. What follows was a chaos! Indeed, after a few seconds, there was a pandemonium aboard the aeroplane, as shown in the video, as a dense fog began to fill the cabin and passengers rushed out to the exits. Also, there were women who began to vomit and children who started crying.

AirAsia apologized in a statement for the delay of the flight, but regarding the fog justified what happened saying that it is a “common phenomenon” when the air conditioning works in conditions of high humidity.
