Salman Khan: to bail or not to bail, that is the question
Convicted yesterday, Bollywood actor, has not appeared today in Court for his bail appeal. His lawyer reached morning court sessions today with a 51 page bail application. The court session had been adjourned for Saturday 6 April. Meanwhile, the actor will have to spend a second night in custody as prisoner No.106.
While thousands of fans are taking the pledge for Salman Khan, the latter has not been able to gain the sympathy of the Court. The Judge underlined, “The way the accused killed two innocent black bucks in violation of the wildlife laws… he is a film star, people emulate him… there has been a rise in poaching incidents, so leniency is not justified.”. Salman Khan had also been constrained to pay a fine of 10K Indian Rupees while other accused in the same case had been acquitted for lack of evidence by the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
Salman Khan’s lawyer, on the other hand, claimed that there is not enough evidence for proving that his client is guilty. The Court however remains adamant and precedent cases in which the actor had been acquitted might act as convincing deterrent for his release on bail.
