Shah Rukh Khan in the remake of “Hey Ram”
According to reports, actor and producer Shah Rukh Khan has acquired the rights to remake Kamal Hassan’s movie, “Hey ram”. Shah Rukh will remake the film under the Red Chillies banner. It is a film that was released in 2000 and was a Tamil-Hindi bilingual. The film was written, directed, and produced by Hassan, who was also the protagonist in the film. Shah Rukh Khan had a key role in the movie, where he played the role of an archeologist.
Apart from winning three National film awards, the film was also screened at the International Film Festival of India, and was selected by Film Federation of India as its submission to the Oscars in the year 2000. However it was not nominated.
When Kamal Hasan spoke to the media, he said that in the film, Shah Rukh had only received a wrist watch as remuneration as they didn’t have enough money to pay him. He stated that he is very glad that Khan has acquired the Hindi rights for “Hey Ram” from the co-producer Bharat Bhai.
The film also featured Rani Mukherji, Hema Malini, Vasundhara Das, Om Puri, Atul Kulkarni, Naseeruddin Shah, Vikram Gokhale and many more.
