Disha Patani starts training for period drama ‘Sangamithra’
Disha Patani is making headlines these days. After her film ‘Baaghi 2’ has been recorded as the biggest opening for 2018, Patani’s association with Sundar C’s highly anticipated historical saga ‘Sangamithra’ has been confirmed.
According to the sources, Disha will be playing the lead role of ‘Sangamithra’. She has replaced Shruti Hassan, who was originally cast for the role in 2017.
“The film will be on the lines of director SS Rajamouli’s period-drama “Baahubali” and will be released in two parts. The shooting will take place in Hyderabad, on sets very similar to “Baahubali’s”. It will be filmed on a grand scale and if everything goes according to plan, the first part will be unveiled next year,” a source told a leading daily.
The actress has already started learning sword-fighting for this period drama. She is familiar with martial arts and would also be trained for other forms of fighting to meet the expectations of the lead role.
This multi-starrer film will also feature Tamil stars Jayam Ravi and Arya in male leads. The trilingual film will released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and is expected to roll out in July 2018. The makers will also plan for a sequel in 2019.
The film’s gross budget was 220 crore but now the Chennai-based production and distribution company, Sri Thenandal Studios, have set 400 crores for ‘Sangamithra’.
