Bus slipped in gorge after driver lost vehicle’s control, 27 children killed
Twenty seven children on a bus had lost their lives in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district. The school bus which was carrying the students fell into a 100- feet deep abyss. Owned by a private school, the vehicle slipped in the gorge after rolling several times, ending upside down in the middle of the hillside.
According to the police, the bus driver might have lost the control of the vehicle while taking a narrow turn. High speed might also be the reason which led to this deadly accident.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had been called on the spot and the few survivors who were still trapped inside the bus were evacuated.
The children were students at Wazir Ram Singh Pathania Memorial Public School and were in class 5 and lower. Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur declared that 5lakh compensation will be given to the victims’ families. Survivors had been admitted to a hospital in Pathankot and are being given necessary treatments.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed his sympathy to the families who lost their children.
