National Films Awards: Late Sridevi rewarded for her performance in “MOM”
Late actress Sridevi was awarded her first National Film award for her outstanding performance in the movie “MOM”. The actress was cast in a role of a mother, who was hell bent on avenging her daughter’s rape.
Sridevi’s husband, Boney Kapoor, who was also the producer of the movie, could not hold back his tears. He said, “I’m too overwhelmed. I wish she were here. It’s her first, so many things come to mind, I wish she was here.”
On the other hand, Divya Dutta won Best Supporting Actress for “Irada”, while A R Rahman won Best Music Director for director Mani Rathnam’s “Kaatru Veliyidai” and Best Background Score for “MOM”. Late Vinod Khanna was awarded the Dada Saheb Phalke Award.
