Data leak in India: Cambridge Analytica states that investigations are on-going

Cambridge Analytica in London stated that all activities around the world including India will be investigated and reported. The spokesperson underlined that all “national issues and national associations are part and parcel of the independent investigation”. This information was released from a press release of Cambridge Analytica in London on Wednesday 25 April.

Huge concerns were brought last month as NaMo App was allegedly accused stealing users’ data. Clashes rose between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and BJP leader Narendra Modi as both accused each other of taking information without users’ consent.

Moreover, a Twitter post from Janata Dal, revealed that castes researchs were carried out in Uttar Pradesh during 2010 elections by SCL India Ltd, a branch company of Cambridge Analytica. Janata Dal also provided documents which revealed that SCL had a database of “over 600 districts and 7 lakh villages”. Furthermore, it was revealed that SCL had an office in Ghaziabad and nine regional offices Bangalore, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Patna, Pune, Ahmedabad and Cuttack.
