India: He tries to take a selfie with a wounded bear and gets killed
Selfie attempts continue to kill people all over the world. In India, a man was killed by a bear while attempting to take a photograph with the animal.
Prabhu Bhatara, a driver in India, jumped from his vehicle to take photos of the creature despite warnings from his passengers. He had previously spotted an injured bear at the side of the road in a forested tribal area in Odisha, Eastern India. Ignoring the warnings of his travelling companions, Prabhu approached the wild animal.
All hell then broke loose. The bear became very aggressive and attacked Prabhu. The latter tried, in vain, to escape from its clutches. While nearly everyone else yelled and took video of the deadly attack, a stray dog tried to fight the creature but was unable to free the man from its grasp, forest officials said. The animal – thought to be a local sloth bear – is seen repeatedly biting and scratching him. The victim eventually died as a result of his multiple lacerations.
Forest officials had to tranquilize the bear to recover the man’s body.
