India : Police refuses to search for missing young man, later found dead in a canal
An extremely anxious father in Kottayam, Kerala, went to report the case of his missing son at the nearest police station on Sunday 27th May, but the police inspector refused to file his complaint. In fact, the 23-year-old son, Kevin Joseph, married a girl on Friday 25th May. The boy’s father told the police that his son was missing since the wedding night. He suspected that the girl’s family had kidnapped Kevin because his son and that girl had married against the wishes of the girl’s family.
The policemen refused to register a complaint. Their explanation was that they were busy with ensuring the safety of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who intended to visit a nearby district. The policemen told the boy’s father to go home and to await his son’s return. The next morning, Kevin Joseph’s parents got news that their son’s dead body was found in a canal, 100 kilometers away from his house.
Investigations revealed that the girl’s brother and a bunch of accomplices murdered Kevin. The police inspector who had rejected the complaint of the missing son, was suspended immediately after the news spread like wild fire throughout the entire state of Chennai. Not one but four regiments of top police officers investigated this murder case. All the accused are currently on the run. However, the police is positive that they will soon be placed under arrest.
