Sonakshi Sinha to replace Kareena Kapoor in “Apla Manus” remake
The Marathi flick “Apla Manus” which starred Nana Pathekar is being remade in Bollywood after enjoying a good run at the Box Office. The Hindi remake will be directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, famous for hits like “Lagaan” and “Jodhaa Akbar” and will be produced by Ajay Devgn.
“Apla Manus” is a story about a couple living with an elderly father-in-la and the ensuing generational and social gaps that create conflict between them. An unforeseen incident changes their lives and they must deal with the emotional repercussions of the same. The film was well-received by audiences as well as being critically acclaimed.
Although Kareena Kapoor was initially in talks for the remake, things didn’t quite seem to work out. Her commitment to Raj Mehta’s next with Akshay Kumar is allegedly the reason for her rejecting the project. Now, Sonakshi Sinha has been brought in to for the role previously played by Iravati Harshe in the Marathi counterpart.
Kareena has several offers to pick from after her comeback to films post-pregnancy, while basking in the success of her latest hit “Veere Di Wedding”. The new mother has previously stated that she will only work in one film per year, in order to spend quality time with her family.
Apart from the remake, Sonakshi Sinha will be seen next in “Kalank”, “Dabangg 3” and “Happy Phir Bhag Jayegi”.
