A shipwreck for a noble cause: Twin Capes Ferry has been intentionally sunk in the Atlantic Ocean with an unusual purpose (VIDEO)
A spectacular video uploaded on the Web by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control of the State of Delaware (USA) shows the moment in which a large ferry is sunk in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
The ship in question was the Twin Capes ferry, which transported during its 42 years of service, thousands of people seeking to cross the Delaware Bay (United States). The boat, sunk almost 50 kilometres off the coast of this bay, which separates the state of New Jersey from Delaware, was almost 100 metres long and weighed 2,100 tons.
The ship has been sunk for the creation of an artificial reef that contributes to the formation of marine life : A shipwreck for a noble cause.
It is not the first sunken ship in the area with this same objective. Previously, the same was done with five other ships, including a destroyer of the US Navy.
