Priyanka Chopra begins prep for “The Sky Is Pink”
If you believed that Priyanka Chopra would turn her back to Bollywood after finding success in the West, you were highly mistaken. PC is back to her hindi roots as she has signed on the Salman Khan starrer Bharat as well as director Shonali Bose’s upcoming project The Sky Is Pink.
Upon her return Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram to confirm rumours of her starring in The Sky Is Pink. The film is based on the real life story of Aisha Chaudhary, a young girl who became a motivational speaker after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Priyanka will portray the role of Aisha’s mother, Aditi Chaudhary, while Farhan Akhtar will portray her father. The role of Aisha is allegedly played by Zaira Wasim.
Diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis at the age of thirteen didn’t let her illness deter her spirit. She became a motivational speaker at the age of 14, inspiring people through platforms like TEDx and INK. Unfortunately, she breathed her last at the age of 18, hours after her book My Little Epiphanies was launched.
The film has already garnered appraises as it won the Script Pool Award at the Tallinn & Baltic Event 2017 Awards. When asked about their reason for choosing the winner, the jury had this to say, “The script is a complex narrative about fate. How does a girl who is suffering from a life-threatening disease feel? Aisha tells us her fate in a non-linear way as a love story of her parents. The script is about to become an extraordinary experience that can truly inspire, challenge and entertain audiences when it is further developed in a consequent way.”
