Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Pulimurugan” remake: Hrithik Roshan refutes rumors of declining the film
Famous filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has a flair for larger than life cinema, clearly displayed by his blockbuster hits like Black, Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat and more. Now it seems he has taken on the challenge of remaking Pulimurugan, the highest grossing Malayalam film of all time.
Originally directed by Vysakh and starring the action star Mohanlal, the film was released in 2016 and is till date the only Malayalam film to enter the coveted 100 crores club at the box office. It is a story based on a wild life hunter who is known for killing man-eating tigers. The actor received rave reviews from audiences and critics.
The rumors claim that the filmmaker had approached Hrithik Roshan for the role played by Mohanlal in the original but the actor turned him down. This came as quite a shock to the audiences as his previous collaboration with SLB, Guzaarish, garnered him plenty of critical acclaim.
Hrithik, who usually ignores such rumors, actually responded on Twitter saying, “False journalism. Or an honest mistake. Who will ever know. stay cool tho.” Does this mean he didn’t turn down the offer or that Sanjay Leela Bhansali never approached him in the first place?
Hrithik will be next seen in Super 30 and YRF’s next alongside Tiger Shroff. As for the Pulimurugan remake, it will be interesting to see who will step into the shoes of Mohanlal in the Hindi version.
