WhatsApp: Experts working on a application to tell if message is fake
A team of experts of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, headed by the Professor Ponnurangam Kumaraguru, is working on developing an application that will tell if a message is fake or not.
Recently, rumours spread thought “WhatsApp” resulted in mob fury, including one where five men were lynched on the suspicion of being child-lifters in Maharashtra’s Rainpada village. A man was beaten to death and three others were injured after a mob attack them suspecting them to be child-lifters in Karnataka.
A large number of data is being collected and people have been asked to forward messages on the number 9354325700, which will be analysed. Experts will try to put wrapper on messages which are believed to be fake.
