Learn from others mistakes. United States election had been influenced by social media and India has taken serious note of the misuse of media platforms. This will not be allowed on the Indian Territory, say IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Speaking during the G-20 Digital Economy ministerial meeting in Argentina, the Indian minister said that the purity of the democratic process should never be compromised. He promised that his country will take measure to deter and punish those who try to manipulate elections next year through social media.

Everything is being closely monitored in India and recently CBI initiated a preliminary enquiry against consultancy firm Cambridge Analytica for alleged collecting of illegal personal data of Indians through Facebook.

India’s digital economy is powered by 1.21 billion mobile phones, which include 450 million smartphones, 500 million internet subscribers and broadband availability.

The minister was cleared that any cybercrime of cyber threat will be dealt very severely the present government.
