After her latest hit Tumhari Sulu at the end of last year, Vidya Balan is planning her much-anticipated return to the big screen. One of the most talked about films of the past couple of years, the NTR biopic has finally gone into production mode. The film will mark the actor’s debut in Telugu films.
The shoot has already begun at Abids in Hyderabad, where the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) lived in the 80s. The makers are trying to remain as authentic as possible to the life story of NTR – even going so far as to cast his real life son, Nandamuri Balakrishna in the titular role.
Vidya Balan will be playing the role of NTR’s first wife Basava Tarakam, whom the actor-politician married at the age of 20. The film also features Rana Daggubati as Chandrababu Naidu and Rakul Preet Singh as the late-actor Sridevi.
The film will be directed by Krish, who just wrapped the Kangana-starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Dharma Teja, who was previously on-board to direct the biopic, backed out due to creative difference with Nandamuri Balikrishna, who is also one the producers of the film. The biopic will also be backed by Sai Korrapati Ranganatha, and Vishnu Induri. The music for the film will by composed by M. M. Keeravani.
