HDFC Bank vice president Siddharth Sanghvi was found dead on Monday after being reported missing the last five days. A cab driver was arrested and said that his services were hired to kill the bank vice-president.
Siddharth Sanghvi, 39 years old, went missing in Mumbai after leaving his office in Kamala Mills compound on Wednesday. One day after, his phone was switched for few minutes in Navi Mumbai, according to police. His car with bloodstains and a knife was discovered after a search in Airoli.
After an inquiry, the Mumbai police arrested a 20-year-old Sarfaraz Shaikh, a cab driver. The latter did confess that his services were hired by Siddharth Sanghvi rivals at work, who were jealous of his recent promotion. Four people, including a woman, were involved in the conspiracy, Shaikh said to police. According to his confession, he killed Sanghvi on Wednesday and dumped his body near Haji Malang, 40 km away from Kalyan in Thane district neighbouring Mumbai.
The bank vice-president was married and was a father of an eight-year-old son. They were living in Malabar Hill in south Mumbai.
