Anushka Sharma Spoke about Her Challenging Role in ‘Zero’

Amazing! Outstanding! Exceptional! These must be your expressions if you have seen the official trailer of ‘Zero’ released on Friday. While we were expecting an extraordinary performance by all the actors especially Shah Rukh, Katrina and Anushka Sharma, we never thought of Anushka in such a non-glamorous yet super-powerful role.

The actor is playing the character of a struggling scientist suffering from cerebral palsy. And it is evident from the 3 minutes 14 seconds-long trailer that the role was extremely challenging. However, Anushka truly nailed it.

The 30-year-old actor who attended the trailer launch along with Shah Rukh and Katrina said, “I am playing a character who has a cerebral palsy. I realized it was going to be very challenging. I could emote so much as I was going through these ups and downs in the film. The only way I could emote everything I was feeling was by just really being centered and being on that chair and not move.”

When asked how she prepared herself for the role, Anushka said that when she reached the set, she used to sit in the chair for the whole day except when going for lunch or something urgent. ‘Zero’ is a film about the journey of Bauua Singh, a vertically challenged man looking for a bride. He met Anushka, the scientist with cerebral palsy and Katrina, an actor battling alcoholism. The film unfolds Bauua’s journey to broaden his horizon and completing his incompleteness after his enlightening experiences with these women.

The film is directed by Anand L. Rai and produced by Gauri Khan, releasing on December 21.
