BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya who is the son of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya is recently in the news for thrashing a government official with Cricket bat. This whole scuffle occurred during the demolition of a dilapidated house in his constituency. Akash warned the officials of dire consequences if they didn’t stop. The official who was beaten with bat had come for an encroachment drive. A video footage of Akash brutally beating the official has gone viral.
His supporters also removed the keys of the earth moving machine and later attacked and abused the official while police tried to intervene and bring things under control. Akash said that the officers were trying to take down even those houses which were in good condition by declaring them as dilapidated.
Akash said that there is a conspiracy between house owners and the officials. He further said that the officials wanted to take down the houses so that the leaders of the Congress party can take possession of the land.
One of the Congress leaders criticized and condemned this act of Akash Vijayvargiya saying “The lawmaker himself has broken the law. Rahul Gandhi’s brother-in-law and Priyanka Gandhi’s husband Robert Vadra condemned this incident by tweeting “Look at the arrogance with which he is hitting him. There is no justification for this rowdy act”.
An FIR has been lodged against Akash and 10 other people. Akash was then arrested and sent to jail. His bail plea was rejected by the local court. Akash has been sent to judicial custody for two weeks. Akash justified his act saying that he didn’t regret this act and did so in self-defense. He even said that he would something of this kind in the future if there is a need.
The Municipal Corporation in Indore has suspended 21 municipal officials for standing in support of Akash Vijayvargiya instead of supporting their own official. There was a group of officials who were protesting against the BJP MLA.
