Inside Cooking EP3: Apple Butter Bars

Apple Butter bars are delicious. soft, tender cake nicely spiced, moist bars drizzled with icing. quick and easy to whip up.



1/2 glass margarine

1/2 glasses universally handy flour

1/2 glass pressed dark coloured sugar

1/4 glass white sugar

1 egg

3/4 glass creamy fruit spread

1/2 teaspoon heating soft drink

1/2 teaspoon crusty fruit-filled treat zest

1 glass raisins

1 glass confectioner’s sugar

1/4 teaspoon vanilla concentrate

2 tablespoons milk


Step 1. Preheat stove to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Oil a 13 x 9 x 2-inch preparing dish.

Step 2. Beat margarine until smooth. Include half of the flour, the dark-coloured sugar, white sugar, egg, creamy fruit spread, preparing a soft drink and the crusty fruit-filled treat flavour. Beat together until very much mixed. Beat in remaining flour and stir in raisins. Spread in prepared baking pan.

Step 3. Bake for 20-25 minutes or till toothpick in focus confesses all. Cool in a container on wire rack. Sprinkle with icing. Cut into bars.

Step 4. To Make Icing: Mix 1 glass confectioners’ sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla and 1 – 2 tablespoons milk. Blend to sprinkling consistency.
