Karan Johar’s film will be based on his own experience

Recently, Dharma Productions along with Cape of Good Films announced their upcoming film Good News starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani. It’s set to be directed by newbie director Raj Mehta as he set to make his debut in Bollywood.

Reportedly, the dramedy will be loosely-based on Karan Johar’s own experiences and struggles with parenthood. He has always been vocal about how he considers his kids to be a blessing and parenthood has been the best experience of his life. His twins, Roohi and Yash were born through surrogacy and the film will include the thought-processes and events that lead him through his journey with this method of conception.

The film will feature the journey of two couples – Akshay-Kareena and Diljit-Kiara – as they face a lot of ups and downs while trying to having a baby. Speaking about the selection of the cast, a source revealed, “Parenthood is something Karan and Kareena, who are very close to one another, have gone through very recently. The pangs of parenthood are fresh in the minds and hearts of both. And that’s the reason why Karan was keen to have Kareena on board for Good News. As for Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar was keen to have him on board for a very long time.”

The film is set to go on floors on 19th July, 2019.
