Radhika Apte and Ayushman Khurrana to work together in “Andhadhun”
Radhika Apte and Ayushman Khurrana will be working together in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming thriller “Andhadhun”. They will be playing the lead roles, along with Tabu, in the film. According to sources, the movie is based on a blind pianist, played by Ayushman.
The working title of the film was ‘Shoot the Piano Player’, which was also the title of one of French “New Wave” director, Francois Truffaut’s well known film. As the makers were not keen on having an English title it was changed into “Andhadhun”.
The movie will be co-produced by Viacom 18. The film is set in Pune and the production is almost at its completion stage.
Sriram Raghavan made his directorial debut with the film “Ek Hasina Thi” in 2004, starring Urmila Matondkar. He has since then directed films like “Johnny Gaddar”, “Agent Vinod” and “Badlapur”. Sriram says that “Andhadhun” will be closer to “Johnny Gaddar” in terms of the tone of the film, with quirky characters and a strong plot.
Sriram will also be directing a biopic based on Secone Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who lost his life at the age of 21 in 1971 India-Pakistan war. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the highest military award in India. He is set to collaborate with Dinesh Vijan, the Badlapur producer, for this project.
